expo: DQStE0806 KLAAS KOETJE

KLAAS KOETJE Opening June 20, 2008 19h/21h to gallery ... then to LA SERRE

Virtual reality analog Onslaught carpentry.

DQStE0806 is a solo exhibition of video artist Klaas Koetje, in which the Assault of carpentry will be transformed into virtual unreality. The virtual unreality
is a concept that Klaas Koetje uses to characterize his work as analog, which can not be thought without the developments of contemporary art.
He is not opposed to digital art but it can be considered an impassioned plea for the unexplored possibilities of the medium with analog video as personal fascination.

In DQStE0806, Onslaught of carpentry becomes audio-visual itself. The sound and picture are on one side, the result of specific features of space and, on the other hand, a projection of the space at the same time. The Assault on carpentry ultimately exist as a physical space but remains as a visible entity broadcasting. This paradox continues to infinity and in this process, according to Klaas Koetje, emerges the issue of what is reality, what is unreal, what reality Virtual and finally something like "virtual unreality" must exist.
in projections of the (ir) reality, visitors enter and immediately made a party. The visitor is not just a spectator, but his physical presence affects constantly on the installation. And as in life, the more people inside, it becomes more complex to observe their influence.

DQStE0806 is the second version of a basic concept called D (omus) Q (uadrigemina). This refers to a specific part of the brain called Corpora Quadrigemina where sound and image are connected.
DQ adapts to each new area and its specificities. This is why the title of the project to Assault carpentry StE has the initials of the city where it takes place. The figures refer to year and month during which the project takes place.

TAKEOFF

GUILLAUME LOUOT

About the installation: The act of appropriating
wall surfaces for aesthetic is given a specifically American
almost going back in history of art at the time
of abstract expressionism or what is called New York School. It was
artistic level of the need for large-area subjects express a strong
body dynamics. At the political level, it was to create
its history, its own history of painting, which also gave as
social perspective to this art: great pictures for large offices.
Here in Europe we have our contemporary history of large-format painting of
expressive painting in situ. But the shift that I am interested in the introduction
on two points. The first is a ratio scale, the
a confrontation between body and space or, put another way the report
it is possible to establish between our body wrapping and our habitat.
The second is "large paintings for large walls," and what I mean by then
is a question of desire: to make great paintings.
The exhibition "off" is an assessment of my desire, my intentions
perhaps. Not on canvas frame, and where it would be wider sphere
ideas, idea, painting ... somewhere. For the exhibition, I have several devices
table-place: A design that allows me to re-visit a
painting, which requires a place to exist. So I converted the premises of
Assault carpentry basis of collage and painting in which we can
, say, moving. There is also talk of position, how fickle! ...
Who works! Where the condition of the subject is a posture, a nomad with respect to its plan.
